If you knew Glo, you knew that she didn't just listen to music—she lived it. She understood something fundamental that many of us often forget music is not an "extra". It isn’t a hobby for the few or a luxury for those who can afford the best instruments and the private tutors. Music is a language. And every child deserves the right to speak it.
Glo’s dream was simple, yet radical. She wanted to live in a world where a child’s zip code, their family’s bank account, or the school they attended never determined whether or not they could pick up a violin, sit at a piano, or find their voice in a choir. She saw the barriers—the excessive cost of rentals, the lack of transportation to lessons, the dwindling arts budgets—and she decided they shouldn't stand in the way of a child's potential.
That is why we have launched the Glorietta Klarich Foundation. We aren't just here to fund programs; we are here to break down walls. Whether it is providing a refurbished trumpet to a middle-schooler, sponsoring a semester of lessons for a budding songwriter, or ensuring our local orchestras reach every corner of our community, we are guided by a commitment to total accessibility for all children. No barriers. Just music.
When a child learns to play, they learn more than just notes on a page. They learn discipline. They find confidence. They discover a way to express things that words simply cannot capture. Glo believed that every child has a song inside them. Our job—and we hope, with your help, our mission—is to make sure they have the tools to play it.
Join us as we turn up the volume on the next generation of Knoxville’s voices.
With harmony and hope,
The Glorietta Klarich Foundation Family
